Capturing REAL smiles and REAL fun. (No more faking it!)

This is a momtography tip for all you mamrazzi trying to capture authentic pictures of your kiddos enjoying summer. I LOVE summer because the sunshine keeps everyone outside for fun where it’s warm and sunny — no more trying to capture pictures inside my less-than-photogenic duplex!

But the summer pictures I love the most are pictures of all the fun we’re having — no straight-on smiles, definitely no poses and LOTS of action!

So how do I suggest you capture those in-the-moment shots? Well it has a LOT to do with anticipating the action and putting yourself in the right spot. Remember, you’re not going to yell “Look over here!” so you need to know where you need to be to capture that laughing smile as they hose down their dad ;)

It also means that sometimes I will suggest fun activities that I know will make a great picture. No, I don’t say “Shaylie can you pretend to _____ ” I simply suggest a new game that I know will produce more giggles and great photos. In this case I challenged the kids to see if they could run up to dad and touch his shirt — while he was trying to spray them. They thought this was an AWESOME idea and I loved the pictures that I got as a result :)

So if you want to capture less cheese and more laughter then anticipate the action and prepare to take lots of pictures! Happy weekend everyone!
