I really love teaching about photography. It’s on my list of things I love more than dark-chocolate covered nuts and carbonated juice (a short list to be sure!)
So after having a fabulous time last year teaching my Intro to Portrait Photography class (testimonials from some amazing students can be read HERE), I knew I needed to create a class just for moms.
I saw a lot of students coming to my class with the main objective of being able to take better pictures of their kids (awesome objective by the way ;)) and I realized there was a whole. lot. I could talk about just on the subject of capturing your kids. A class where we talk less about posing and formal portraits and more about capturing those magical moments that happen every single day in real life.
But that’s not all we talk about — by the end of this class you’ll have learned:
- How to tell your child’s story from birth to the teen years.
- How to recognize the best indoor and outdoor light for pictures (TRULY the key to improving your momtography!)
- How to capture that sparkle in the eye every time.
- All about candids, story telling and posed pictures (Yes, even posed … I know you want those cute pictures of them in their Easter dress just as much as you want to capture the mud pies in the back yard :))
- My basic set-ups and recommendations for backdrops specifically for capturing the first year of baby’s life.
- All about good composition and why it’s so important
- How to decorate your home with the pictures that you’ve taken
Not only that, but every attendee will have the chance to participate in my giveaways (always fun!) with the grand prize being a free mini session with me for your family pictures :D
And that’s not all folks! (Yes, I’m starting to feel like a cheesy game show host …) every momtographer who takes my class will get to go home with a free gift: A lovely booklet loaded with photography tips and tricks and reminders just for you. And if you’re a list-lover like me, then you’ll enjoy the list of candids and memories to create and capture for each season.
So here are the nitty gritty details:
Momtography 101
When: April 9th from 9:30a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Where: Provo City Library
Cost: $49.97
When I started my journey in learning about photography 5 years ago I did so because I was inspired by MY kids. Not because I was inspired by other amazing photographers taking pictures of Gap model kids with perfectly styled hair. I was inspired by my 1-year-old taking her first steps and my son wearing his first tie. I am inspired by the beauty of LIFE– real life, mud pies and all. When my photography started to improve I was amazed that I could actually capture those family memories in a way that was not only fun to share on the blog or with family, but in a way that made those memories beautiful works of art that are now covering my walls.
So I hope you’ll join me for a fun morning all about taking pictures of those people we love most! To register you simply pay (via paypal) and fill out your info HERE.
Class is reserved to the first 15 people to enroll and (becuase I know I’ll be asked), I do not currently have any other dates for this class planned yet.
And, just becuase a post without pictures is incomplete, here is one picture from way back that I still love to this day:
