This lovely lady was the winner of my mini session that I offered as a giveaway at my first Beginning Portrait Photography Class. We decided to try something new and do some urban shots of her cute family. I like the fun urban feel though I have to say, when I showed my pics to my hunksband he commented (as if it was a bad thing), that he wasn’t sure about the location becuase it looked like there was graffiti that had been on the bricks. I told him, that was kind of the point. But I’ll take that to mean he won’t be requesting our pics in an old alley anytime soon :)
Thanks for a fun morning and for wanting to try out a new location!
Oh and as a photog side note: YES I did black and white. I know, I’m shocked too. I think urban grit really lends itself beautifully to black and white pictures! This made me excited because I know where I will head the next time I need black and white for my walls. I am of the opinion that 9 out of 10 times a picture looks much more interesting in color (remember my addiction to bright colors … and c’mon, gorgeous light casting hair highlights just needs to be seen in all it’s glowing yellow glory!) BUT I ended up converting every single one of these to bw as well because I was loving the contrast and texture. So yea for urban pics :)

Hey Marcie,
Thanks for sending me a link. We love them. Can’t wait to get more of them. :)
Can we get them all in color (even though they do look awesome as b&w)
Thanks!
